PRIMITIVE SHAPES

You can actually create 3D models using Daz Studio Create / New Primitive function.

Daz Studio includes the ability to create the following types of basic shapes: CUBE, CYLINDER, CONE, SPHERE, TORUS, and PLANE

COMMON PARAMETERS

Each shape will have its own specific parameters to create it discussed later.  However, there are two parameters common to all available shapes:  ORIGIN and PRIMARY AXIS.

ORIGIN

The Origin can be created at one of two places:  World Center or Object Center.

If you choose the World Center, the new shape will be butted to the zero (0) position on the X-axis and centered on the Y- and Z- axi.

If you choose the Object Center, the new shape will be sitting on the floor but will be centered on the X- and Z- axi.

PRIMARY AXIS

The second common parameter is the Primary Axis which cna be any of the X-, Y- or Z- axi in either the positive or negative directions.

This Primary Axis you choose is more prevalent with non-symmetrical shapes like the Cone than with symmetrical shapes like the Cube.  This is basically the diretion you want the new shape to point.
